Leeds International School, Matara is the 1st International School established in Matara .Its establishment made a long felt need of Matara parents, a reality. This school now provides a large number of students with a sound education in English medium in accordance with the British curriculum. Classes here range from Play Group (2 1/2 years aged children) to G.C.E. Advanced Level.

It gives me great pleasure to send this message to the web site of Leeds International School. I am proud to say that we are the 1st International School established in Matara and also we are the 1st branch school of Leeds International School, complex.

Our school provides students with an education in English medium totally based on the British curriculum. It is enriched with a Sri Lankan future in a religious background.

All the subjects necessary for general education are taught here up to Form III and subjects based on the G.C.E Science stream are taught in Form III, Form IV, Form V and G.C.E Adv. Level classes. Children here get the services of an experienced and qualified staff who have earned a name for dedication and commitment to work.

School also provides opportunities for a range of co-curricular and extra curricular activities. A system is adopted here, where evening supportive classes cater to the requirements of weaker students.

At present, the school with a student population of over four hundred runs smoothly without an disturbance under the correct and able guidance of the management I wish Leeds International School be an oasis for those who are thirsty of excellent English medium education.

HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
This is the 1st branch school of Leeds International school, Panadura. This school was established on 20th June 2000 in a spacious and modern building situated in the heart of Matara town.

As the number of roll increased day by day, the ground space availability was not sufficient for children to run about and play. Hence we were forced to find a place with more ground space. The constant running of vehicles on the main road was also another reason that encouraged us to swift to the present place with more space availability and with a quiet environment.

ACADEMIC FACILITIES

1. Children get the services of a tutorial staff that is rich with experience, qualified, dedicated and committed to service.
2. A well equipped computer room, Science Laboratory, Library and School Book Shop also add to the academic facilities in the school.
3. Facilities for weaker students to attend the free evening supportive classes, and well maintained and spacious class room also increase the academic facilities for children.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

1. Opportunities for children to participate in competitions organized by the school and outside organizations are numerous.
2. Among school activities, more attention is drawn towards the Annual Concert, Annual Prize Giving, English Day Competitions, Sports Day and Religious festivals. Inter Leeds sports competitions, Art, Dancing and Music competitions organized externally also provide more opportunities for co-curricular activities.
3. Carrom, Badminton, Karate .Table tennis. Chess are indoor games children take part in. In addition to indoor games .Netball. Swimming and Cricket are also played here as outdoor games.

We have only classes from Play Group to G.C.E Advanced Level based on British curriculum.
